Allied Health Employment New Zealand

Allied Health Employment is a joint Sth African and Australian company and as such we have offices and professional recruitment consulting teams in both countries. This allows us to offer you the most comprehensive service when looking to undertake employment in New Zealand due to our geographical locations and proximity.

Our firm specialises in the placement of Allied Health professionals into all of New Zealand.  We have employment contracts with both public hospitals as well as private hospitals and medical clinics.
The professions we cater to are

  • Radiographers (Diagnostic)
  • Sonographers
  • Podiatrists
  • Optometrists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Dieticians
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Speech and Language Therapists

New Zealand currently has a shortage of medical professionals, especially in the regional areas more so than the major cities.  Like all countries, New Zealand has its own healthcare standard and registration requirements with state and national registration councils and credentialing bodies.

To work in New Zealand you MUST hold current registration with the professional board in NZ.  Please contact your Allied Health Employment recruitment consultant for more information on registration and how to apply.

You also need a valid New Zealand working visa in your South African passport or Australian or New Zealand passport.  In most cases, we will need to find an employer to provide you with a visa. This is called workplace sponsorship please ask your recruitment consultant regarding this.

If you hold either a UK or Irish passport and are under the age of 31 then you are also eligible to apply directly for a one year working holiday visa!

Many applicants also are required to sit the IELTS (International English Language Test) to be eligible for both registration and a working visa.  Even if English is your first language and you are fluent in it sometimes will not give you exemption. If you have any queries at all please contact your Allied Health Employment recruitment consultant.

Depending on your profession and the registration requirements at the New Zealand side, you may also be required to undertake both a written and or clinical examination in your field.  Your Allied Health consultant will be able to guide you on the requirements.
